EN 10204 document types describe inspection content and validation arrangements, not a PCB copper busbar quality grade. A 3.1 certificate is issued by the manufacturer and validated by an authorized inspection representative independent of manufacturing. It does not automatically mean external third-party inspection. Check delivered-lot identity and order coverage as well.
Specify the document before ordering
BSI describes BS EN 10204:2004 as a standard for metallic-product inspection documents. Penflex and BSSA explain the public distinctions below. Contract implementation should use the adopted standard and order requirements.
| Type | Main distinction | Check |
|---|---|---|
| 2.2 | Non-specific inspection results | Relationship to the required delivery inspection unit |
| 3.1 | Specific results validated by the authorized manufacturer representative independent of manufacturing | Authority, inspection unit and order coverage |
| 3.2 | Additional validation by the purchaser authorized representative or an officially designated inspector | Participants and agreed inspection scope |
Link raw material to the delivered part
A useful purchasing record links the original heat or coil identity to material issue, forming lots and finished labels. Preserve the links after slitting or combining production batches. A company name and test values do not replace that traceability.
Penflex explains that inspection units and tests depend on the product specification, rules and order. A 3.1 heading therefore cannot establish that every finished busbar received individual conductivity, coating or joint-strength tests. Read values such as mm, MPa and composition percent together with method and sample identity.
Keep finished-part acceptance explicit
For a PCB copper busbar, identify document type, required tests, lot linkage and delivery timing before asking the supplier to confirm capability. Material documents do not replace dimensional, surface or assembly acceptance. Agree any witnessing requirements before ordering.
See C11000 and Cu-ETP substitution review for material changes. This article promises no Hongchuan certificate type, third-party service or standard test package.
Questions
Does type 3.2 mean better copper than type 3.1? Compare material against the applicable specification and results; document validation is a separate distinction.
Is a supplier stamp sufficient? Review responsibility, type, delivery linkage and scope rather than the stamp alone.
